German artist falls in <3 with 'Plattenbau' in Berlin

While Lichtenberg is not yet associated with the artistic scene of Berlin, the Ex-Stasi citadel of former DDR and its surrounding neighbourhood desperately calls for colour. The Berlin artist Christian Awe initiated this beautification project. Awe started out as a graffiti sprayer, and even though he later chose the more conventional art route, he still uses spray paint for his canvases. He has studied under some of Germany’s most renowned master painters, including Georg Baselitz. The streets of Berlin, says Awe, are his biggest inspiration. Residents of the ‘Plattenbau’ in Lichtenberg which was chosen to transform its facade from ugly grey to multicolor, seem pleased about this urban art intervention.

Scribble onto the airport tower

Samsung invited its Facebook Fans to send a Welcome message onto the screen of a Samsung Galaxy XXL note which is projected onto the Vienna Airport Tower. The message appeared on time at the departure or arrival of loved ones.

 

 

HIGH LINE IN NYC

The High Line was built in the 1930s, as part of a massive public-private infrastructure project called the West Side Improvement. It lifted freight traffic 30 feet in the air, removing dangerous trains from the streets of Manhattan’s largest industrial district.
